While all passports around the world may roughly be the same size at 125 mm × 88 mm – its power ultimately boils down to whether or not you need a visa to visit certain countries or not. Seychelles is the African country whose citizens have the most freedom to visit other countries around the globe, while Eritrean passport holders have the hardest time travelling. Here are Africa’s most powerful passports.

1. SEYCHELLES- NO VISA REQUIRED IN 129 COUNTRIES


Seychellois passport holders can visit more countries in the world than Mauritius, South Africa, Kenya or Nigeria without the need to apply for a visa beforehand.

An infographic published by GOOD Magazine, which ranked countries according to the number of countries their passports can enter either without a visa, or with a visa on arrival, reveals that Seychelles passport holders have access to 126 countries, making it the African passport with the best access to the world, sitting in 28th position worldwide.

It’s The First Day Of July 2016. Happy new month to all Scanty Gela Blog readers and fans. Unfortunately we had to take a short break because of final exams, graduation events and the likes. But hey we are back, and back with a bang.

The EMU International Night 2016 is going to be a colourful one with an array of events by students from different international communities. The events will range from folk dance, fashion show, songs and drama to musical shows. The purpose of the international night is to promote unity in diversity and good intercultural integration.

At EMU, emphasis is not only given to the intellectual growth and satisfaction of our students, rather EMU continuously press forward to reach a mark of excellence in ensuring an all encompassing development of our students. That is why attention is given to the environmental variations of our students based on their roots and then provide them with a platform to show to others what beautiful cultures there are that exist in our world.

Students and guests at the occasion are expected to be maximally entertained in an evening of cultural exposition.

Eastern Mediterranean University [EMU] 2015-16 Spring Semester, Final Exams will be starting on May 23rd and expected to end on July 15th.

POINTS TO BE OBSERVED DURING EXAMINATIONS

1.      Be at the examination hall at least 5 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
2.       Any student who is at most 20 minutes late and before any student leaving the examination hall will be accepted to take the examination. Such students will not be given extra time.
3.       Do not forget to bring your Student Identity Cards to the exam, you may not be allowed to sit for the exam without the student ID.
4.       Write your identity details in INK on your exam paper, as shown on your Student ID card at the beginning of the exam.
5.       Sign the attendance paper using a ball point or ink.
6.       Mobile phones and other communication devices can not be used in the exam hall for any reason.
7.       Items such as pencils, pens, erasers, and any other item permitted by the instructor for the purpose of the exam must be brought to the examination hall. Exchanging of these items between students during the examination is not permitted.
8.       Do not ask any questions related with the examination to the invigilators.
9.       Adhere to the instructions of the invigilator issued to maintain the peaceful conducting of the examination.

May is a fascinating month for all students at EMU since the Spring Fest organized annually by the Social and Cultural Affairs, Student Clubs, Student Council and the Student Activity Center creates a very relaxing atmosphere full of fun just before the spring term comes to an end.

Student clubs find the opportunity to promote their activities and put performances on stage ranging from acting to dancing, to singing, and the list goes on. The stands opened by students or by the locals attract a lot of people since they sell unique items.

The Spring Festival also hosts music groups, singers, academicians, journalists from abroad and many other cultural and social activities to have the students experience unforgettable moments and get the opportunity to meet diverse characters and enjoy new sensations.

CIU diving club opened the 2016 season with warm weather at Kyrenia Mermaid Beach, 15 new students joined this diving event. Before the diving experienced instructors gave a short training to the attendants.

Can Pehlivanoğlu who is the Head of CIU diving club said that they expected more members to be in attendance but anyways happy that some students executed their first diving experience.

The head of CIU Business Club Özkul Haraç, who took part in the diving event, expressed that he enjoyed it. Haraç said that, although he was doing scuba diving for the first time, he didn’t mess it up with the professional support of the instructor. And he added "everyone should see this city which is under the deep blue seas at least once"



According to the Cyprus International University Diving Club, the diving event will be repeated every two weeks on different beaches throughout TRNC.

(ASGA 2016) that will be Hosted by the Eastern Mediterranean University. ASGA is the Biggest African Award Celebrated annually that was initiated in 2012 by Temitope Shoniyi, former Nigerian Students Society Eastern Mediterranean University, to United all African Students on the Island (North Cyprus) and Celebrate Students that have been performing excellently in combining academics and extra-curricular Activities, which is the primary aim of coming to North Cyprus.

The 2016 ASGA is tagged "Celebrating Africa's Diversity" this means that it will be centered on celebrating the cultural diversity of Africa. More so, the decision to celebrate the award in the African way will give room for true representation and display of our Cultural heritage.

The International Food Festival being organized by METU will feature assorted dishes from all over the world. It is also known as the largest ethnic food festival in TRNC. There will be live entertainment and other side attractions.

Eastern Mediterranean University’s American Football Team “EMU Crows” is finalising the preparations for the new season.

In this regard, The EMU Crows will be having trials/try outs for season 2015-2016 for new and old students. If you are healthy, agile, ability to be a good team player, etc. You can come and try. You never know if you have it in you to become the next big star.
