Super Blood Moon: Red Lunar Eclipse seen around the world – [VIDEO]

On Sunday night and Monday morning, millions of people around the world are treated to the sight of a ‘blood moon’, as a lunar eclipse and a ‘supermoon’ – a full moon that is particularly close to earth – combine to make our natural satellite appear red. It happens specifically when the Earth’s shadow completely covers the moon, causing it to dim and take on a yellowish hue.

'Friday's Eclipse may signal the End of the World a.k.a Judgement Day!': Pastor warns! [VIDEO]

The claim was made by Pastor Mark Blitz for the Christian website Root Source in an interview with WorldNetDaily (WND).

The partial solar eclipse on Friday 20 March is itself fairly rare, as the last solar eclipse in Europe occurred back in 1999.

However, a few weeks later on 4 April, the third of four ‘blood moon’ lunar eclipses will take place, while is also the first day of spring and the first day of the Jewish religious calendar.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes in the shadow of Earth, and appears red due to light refracting differently and hitting its surface.

‘An event of this magnitude at the very beginning of the religious new year demands attention,’ Mr Blitz told WND.

‘As the Bible tells us, there will be signs in the heavens on the feast days, and this is a very significant sign on a critical day.

‘It’s the same day that there was the grand-opening ceremony of the tabernacle of Moses, with fire from heaven lighting the altar. Historically, this is a day of judgment.’

He also said it was ‘likely a message from God to the entire world.’

The so-called ‘blood moon prophecy’ is apparently a sign that the world is coming to an end.  Mr Blitz said the last time there were four blood moons in a row, in 1967, Israel captured Jerusalem

Experts have warned, however, that no one should attempt to look directly at the sun without specialised solar glasses.

Blood Moon Rising: TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE on Wednesday will have an unusual twist!

A blood red moon will light up the sky early Wednesday morning. A total lunar eclipse is set to rise above people across a large swath of the world early Wednesday (Oct. 8). Weather permitting, people in North America, Australia, western South America and parts of East Asia will be able to see the total lunar eclipse. Sometimes, when the moon dips into Earth's shadow during an eclipse, the natural satellite takes on a coppery-red color, leading some people to dub it a "blood moon."

The eclipse should reach totality just before sunrise at about 6:25 a.m. EDT (1025 GMT) on the east coast of the United States.

Join NASA experts, Oct. 8, to observe 2014's second total lunar eclipse. The eclipse will begin just after 4 A.M. EDT and continue until sunrise. NASA moon experts will be up all night on Oct. 8 to answer your questions over a live web chat, beginning at 3 A.M. EDT and continuing until sunrise. NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center will also offer a live UStream feed of the eclipse.
