CUTTING EDGE: Ankara-born NEU Head of Graphics Arts, Erdogan Ergun holds Street Art Exhbition

Street Art goes on show at Girne’s Art Rooms at The House with a display of about 40 graffiti-style stencilled canvases and plywood boards.

Cutting Edge, an exhibiton by Ankara-born Near East University head of graphic arts Erdogan Ergun, aims to reflect the contemporary trend of graffiti art which mirrors fashion, cultural, social and political trends.

Mr Ergun, who has taught at the capital’s university for the past nine years, said ”Stencils are made from cardboard, metal, paper and other materials and each colour is applied separately with spray paint or a roller.

”Stencils may be used on interiors or outside and must be very cleanly cut. The canvases are plywood boards and resemble new and alternative art on city walls.”

Cutting Edge opens at the Art Rooms opposite the Colony Hotel GIRNE at 7pm on Monday, May 4, and may be viewed from Tuesday from around midday to midnight until Sunday, May 24.
