FLASHBACK!!: CIU celebrates Nigeria's Independence Day in Grand Style [PICS]

Cyprus International University, Lefkosa TRNC celebrated Nigeria's Independence Day on October 1st with a lot of fanfare and exciting activities.

The event which took place at the Student Development and Counselling Center started with the singing of the Nigerian Anthem after an opening prayer was said by both a Christian and Muslim representative.

The University representative at the event, Dr Ahmet, in his speech thanked everyone for being exemplary citizens of Nigeria and respectful residents of North Cyprus.

The event was attended by several non-Nigerian countries like North Cyprus, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, South Africa and Pakistan. The event was equally graced by Shows by Nigerian artists and comedy shows, including poem recitals.

Some students have this to say about the event:

 - Tolga Karabayir (Computer Education) | "Events like this that allow for the interaction between Turkish and International Students is a very good opportunity for students of CIU, Most of My friends  are Nigerians and i thank them for allowing us to celebrate their day with them"

 - Caleb K'leb Aniedei (Radio and Television) | "The event was more crowded than we expected. People from different countries came here today to support us. I say thank you to all of them. I can only describe tonight as OUTSTANDING. Thank you very much everyone"

 - Aboluwo Titi (Pharmacy) | "Through this event, every Nigerian has tried to show something and i believe we achieved it. Honestly, it's sad to be away from home at this time but thanks to CIU, on special nights like this, we do not feel alone. I would like to offer my thanks to everyone who attended and made it a success"
