Christmas celeberated at CIU with fanfare [PICS]


Christian students at Cyprus International University celebrated Christmas on the 25th of December with carols and theater plays.

Çevik Uraz Hall was decorated with Christmas decorations and lights for the celebration that commenced with the students singing ‘The First Noel’.

Speaking during the event, The CIU Secretary General Associate Prof. Ahmet Adalıer underlined the significance of CIU students from various countries of celebrating Christmas together at CIU, before wishing the students a happy, healthy and successful new year.

At the conclusion of his speech Ahmet Adalıer cut slices from the Christmas cake together with students. After serving the cake the students performed carols and theater plays depicting the life of Mary and Jesus Christ. Playing saxophone during the solo and group performed theater plays a student received a great round of applause from the crowd.

Furkan Haskoloğlu, Electric and Electronics Engineering Program, Turkey“I am very happy for CIU holding such an event, and very happy for living it with my Christian colleagues. I particularly liked the theater plays and carols”.
Winnie Mavoro, Communication and Media Studies Masters Program, Nigeria“A wonderful event, I really had a great time. As for my expectations in the New Year, I firstly wish to graduate in June. I wish to have a larger financial base. I may possibly wish to get married as well.”
Erdi Öztürk, Computer Engineering Program, Turkey“Once again CIU brought together students from various countries. I wish everyone a happy and peaceful new year.”
Van Vanduhe, Computer Engineering – Master Program, Nigeria“This has been an incredibly beautiful celebration. I am very grateful to CIU for this activity. I wish everyone happiness, and a joyful and productive year in 2015.”
