Ercan Airport modernisation started Jan 1st, 2015. New Airport! New Runway!
Construction work to renew facilities at Ercan Airport is scheduled to begin on 1st January, 2015, ‘Kibris Postasi’ reports.
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Hasan Tacoy told the newspaper that all tenders for Ercan are completed and that Turkish company Tasyapi will start work on New Year’s Day.
Tacoy explained that according to plans, the project will last for four years, with a start date of 1st January, 2015, and will include the construction of a new airport building and a new runway. He added that the army has already withdrawn from the area.
The transport minister said that in four years, the airport will have a new terminal building and two runways with the capacity to serve two million 500 thousand travellers a year.
