Meteorite turns night into day over Bucharest, Romania [VIDEO]
A meteorite disintegrated over Bucharest, the capital of Romania, early Wednesday, blazing through the sky and briefly lighting up the city in the wee hours of the morning.
The event, which occurred at approximately 3:05:57 a.m. local time, was caught on several security cameras throughout the city, such as the rooftop cam from surveillance company NXDATA that took the footage below.
It's not certain if this meteoroid — a small rocky or metallic body moving through space — has actually become a meteorite, i.e. if any piece of it survived atmospheric entry and hit the ground. It most likely burned in the atmosphere and did not cause any damage, ROSA claims.
