Ofhand TV concludes plan for cable and online TV launch

OFHand Entertainment TRNC announced two weeks ago that they will be launching a cable TV CHANEL on DigiTurk in Cyprus and Online. ON 25th Jan, the CEO of Ofhand Inc, Mr. Jubril Bankole called a press conference to inform relevant stakeholders on the details concerning the launch. Find below some excerpts:

HOW THE THE IDEA CAME ABOUT.
Mr. Jubril: This idea was conceived out of the need to give the Africans and other internationals in Cyprus a taste of their own brand on TV aside the usual Turkish channels we watch on TV all the time. I actually started something like this in 2011 with a Facebook page called NaijaCyprus TV, it was a group where we would post Nigerian home videos and the page had a lot of following but we later stopped due to expansion and academics was getting in the way too.

WHAT IS THE TV CHANEL ABOUT AND WHAT WILL OFHAND TV BE SHOWING
Mr. Jubril: OFHAND TV is an entertainment tv chanel that will bring you the latest HD movies, music videos and documentaries alongside news and helplines on day to day activities coupled with interesting programs structured for general appeal.

IS THIS TV CHANEL ONLY BASED ON SOCIALS AND ENTERTAINMENT ALONE?
Mr. Jubril: Not really because we also intend to create and show programs that cut across every aspect of life and portray positivism in order to upgrade the image of Nigerians here in Cyprus and Europe at large

IN HOW MANY LANGUAGES WILL THE TV CHANEL BE AIRING?
Mr. Jubril: For now we are going to be airing in English because our target audience are English speaking people and English speaking internationals in Cyprus and Europe at large

HOW DOES OfHAND ENTS INTEND TO REACH THE AUDIENCE AT LARGE  WITH OFhand TV
Mr. Jubril: Ofhand will be working with all the available media in Cyprus and revealed that the TV station will be free to air for the first 6 months.

'That is exactly why we called this press conference in the first place, we will be working with all the media houses in Cyprus to reach out to people. According to statistics on our hands right now, there are over 18,000 Nigerians in Cyprus as we speak, despite this, the music video by a Nigerian artist with the highest amount of views on YouTube is just a little bit over 4,000 views, so where are the remaining 14,000 people. We have a lot of interesting programs we will be coming up with that will keep people tuned into the station and to add icing to cake, the station is free to air on Digiturk'.

WILL THERE BE ANY PATNERSHIPS
Mr. Jubril: Yes of course  OfHand TV will be open to ideas and partnership from other media outlets and to anyone that has any programme they would like to put on and promote on TV.

'I am saying this for the record now that we are on camera, OFhand TV will be open to ideas, advice, contributions and partnership from other media outlets and the general public too. If you are out there and you have a programme you think can feature on TV, you can reach out to us and let us discuss it with you. Other media houses are also welcome to work with us'.

 HOW WILL OFHAND TV BENEFIT ARTISTS AND OTHER ENTERTAINERS IN CYPRUS,
 Mr. Jubril: OfHand TV will be airing various programmes that has to do with the daily life of an international in Cyprus. such as.

1. The Made: A TV programme that talks about entertainers, business personalities and the likes who are made in Cyprus. This programme will feature in-depth and interesting facts about the personalities featured on it. n

2. Cyprus Superstars: This programme will feature mostly entertainers based in Cyprus who are doing well in their field. A free music video will be shot for the Top 5 ranking artists in Cyprus and will be used to promote both the artists and the TV station as well. He also revealed the name of some artists in consideration and it includes multiple award winning rappers Kevin Tita, TBone, El Bee and afrobeat singers, Yung Tizzer and Cash Para.

3. The Patriot: This programme will be all about Nigerians in Cyprus who are going out of their way to promote the image of Nigeria in Cyprus.

In conclusion, Mr. Jubril also stated that the Online version of the TV station will be launched on the OFhand official website first before the cable station starts airing in April 2015.
