TRNC Prime Minister Özkan Yorgancıoğlu: Cooking Gas prices to be reduced by 36%

Electricity prices will be reduced an announcement by the Council of Ministers said on Thursday. The cost of bottled gas is also going down.

According to Prime Minister Özkan Yorgancıoğlu, the reduction will be by 36%. He added that the Electricity Authorities should make investments, improve power lines and repay their debts. The size of the reduction, he said, was made to reflect these factors.

At the adjusted prices, electricity up to 250KW would cost 44 kurus per kWh; 250-550KW would now be 48 kurus (down from 55) and 501-750KW 52 kurus.

The Council also announced that the cost of gas bottles would be reduced by 4 TL bringing the price down to 33TL from 37TL.

These reduction in prices is to reflect the global downward spiral in the prices of oil. As such prices of global goods and products that rely on the oil benchmark to function has reduced.

More reduction should be expected as oil prices reduce further.

NOTE: the displayed reduction in prices of Cooking gas is government approved and as such subject to change by factors such as delivery company and location, including individual cooking gas company policies.

  1. I wonder how they calculate %36 from 37 TL and get 4 Lira as a result?
Maybe they are not so good on Math? 0,37x36= 13,32 is the correct result.... So gas price should be reduced to 23,68 then....
Anyone to explain this Math miracle?

Lool my thoughts exactly, nevrdless i just took away the main point, and left the irrelevant's, which is there shud be, a 'seen tangible' reduction in the current price. we all buy gas at least monthly so this shuldnt be dat difficult to verify. nothing to get excited abt here. As for the maths thingy, methnk its one of d irrelevant's. small small dey build ocean, maybe if we praise dem a bit, they'd be encouraged to do more :) #Anonymous
