Great Project is being initiated for the benefit of Street Animals in TRNC
The promotion of the project which will be initiated for the benefit of homeless street animals was realized through the press meeting hosted by the Near East University.
According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, detailed information about the project was shared with members of the media through the press conference hosted by NEU.
The Street Homeless Animal Project is supported by Near East University Animal Hospital, Serakıncı Limited, Merial Pharmaceutical Company, Northern Cyprus Animal Protection Association, Kyrenia Animal Rescue, Golden Paws (Altın Patiler) Street Animals Protection and Rescue Association, Iskele Coast Lions Club and Nicosia Hunting and Shooting Union. For benefit of the homeless street animals, within the scope of the project, for each unit sale of the drug “Frontline Combo”, which is used against infestations with fleas, ticks and/or biting lice, 5₺ will be donated to assist the respective associations and units in providing food, accommodation and health services including vaccinations, preventive care, emergency care, surgery and medications for homeless street animals.
As host and the partner of the project, the Near East University Animal Hospital Chief Physician Asst. Prof. Dr. Osman Ergene made the opening speech of the press conference.
Addressing to the media members, Ergene introduced the chairpersons of the associations and societies that provide support to the project and highlighted that the Near East University Animal Hospital was aware of its social responsibilities and would provide support for all projects regarding the benefit of homeless street animals. Touching upon the crucial role of the project in assisting the homeless street animals, Ergene said. “I hope, this project will set an example for similar projects”.
In his speech, project coordinator and sponsor Serakıncı Limited Director Salahi Serakıncı stated that 5₺ from the sale of each box of the drug “Frontline Combo” would be donated to the project partners to assist the homeless street animals. Serakıncı underlined that the financial size of the project would be met by Serakıncı Limited. He noted that the respective associations would be provided with financial assistance when projects partners submit the collected drug labels to Serakıncı Limited by the end of the first phase of the project. Serakıncı stated that the mission of the project was to remind the importance of combating against parasites and parasite vector borne-diseases under the control of veterinarians by creating awareness.
