Deformed ear was restored to its former anatomical structure through a successful reconstructive surgery

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of the Near East University, a severe traumatic ear injury that occurred as a result of the traffic accident in which a motorcycle collided with a car in Kyrenia-Çatalköy vicinity on August 24, 2015, was reported to 153 emergency helpline of the Near East University Hospital. Upon arriving at the scene of traffic accident within the shortest time, the ambulance of NEU Hospital urgently took the injured person to the Hospital of Near East University.

The first detailed medical examinations and tests were carried out as soon as the injured person was referred to the hospital. Traumatic deformities due to multi-part tissue loss on one ear of the patient were detected during the examination carried out by general surgery and brain surgery units. In order to prevent the trauma to cause more severe physical deformation, anatomical deformation and hearing loss, the physicians have concluded to conduct a surgery.

Doctor Orgun Deren: The anatomical form of the ear has been restored

Upon conducting the surgery, surgeon Orgun Deren from the Aesthetic, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit of the Near East University Hospital delivered information regarding the case.”The patient had a severe ear injury when he was referred to the hospital. With a successful operation, we have treated the trauma that developed as a result of tissue loss and restored the anatomic and aesthetic appearance of the ear in a functional way by re-shaping the tissues depending on the existing deformation. Our patient is in good condition now. We expect he will be in a non- dressing condition after removing sutures within 15 days” said he.
