With the internet speed and engagement of youths all over the world rising, so has the number of Nigerian web series that have hit the internet over the past few years. So what’s better than sitting back, and watching a few series on the internet when you’re not doing too much else or at your leisure.
I mean there’s nothing better than watching a creative, funny, or enlightening show on the web. Best of all you don’t need to watch it on TV now. Shuga Naija
This show airs on MTV Base, but they stay up to date with their youtube channel so once the the episode is ready, you can expect it on their youtube channel almost immediately. Shuga is a witty, funny, educational but most importantly entertaining show that aims at educating youths on HIV, safe sex and teen pregnancy.It also touches on maternal and child health, family planning, gender-based violence, and women empowerment. Skinny Girl In Transit
Skinny Girl in Transit is in it’s first season but it’s already getting a lot of buzz online. The show is a comedy series starring Ngozi Nwosu and Kenneth Okolie, tells the story of a plus-size radio personality Tiwa, played by Abimbola Craig and her struggle with the pressures of wanting to be in a relationship and to be successful. All episodes are on Youtube.

Real Talk hosted by popular smooth FM personality Cornelia O’Dwyer is a talk show that primarily focuses on everyday life issues, especially those affecting the youth demographic. It’s a very entertaining talk show, and usually features a good variety of notable names giving their opinions on everything from career issues to relationship problems. Best of all it’s very pure and honest. No scripting here.

What’s one way to sell life in Lagos to a non-Nigerian that has never been to Lagos before? Have them watch the last 2 seasons of Gidi Up, and they’ll get a good idea of what Lagos is all about. Gidi Up is a TV and web drama series starring OC Ukeje, Somkele Iyamah, Adeyemi Okanlawon and Titi Sonuga. The series follows the lives of four young adults (Obi, Tokunbo, Eki and Yvonne) who are pursuing success and independence in the city of Lagos and all the challenges that come with it.
