CLAIM: CIU Students of Hair Care and Beauty Services; As talented as Hollywood Makeup Artists.

Students from Cyprus International University (CIU) Hair Care and Beauty Services Department performed makeup using plastic and prosthesis at the street festival held in Nicosia on the occasion of last Halloween.

Ten students of the CIU Hair Care and Beauty Services Department performed makeup on over 100 children, adolescents and adults at their stand during the event held at Dereboyu in Nicosia TRNC, creating witches and zombies using plastic makeup, prosthesis, 3 dimensional scars and other special effects. Students’ work matched that of professional artists, several people claimed.

Department Head Vali Gjinali pointed out “Our students caught the opportunity to perform professionally in front of thousands of onlookers in Nicosia the very special effects makeup that they worked on during their lessons. Students’ makeup performance was followed with much interest and appreciation. Quite a few people had their previous makeup performed by other artists removed in order to have a new makeup by our students”.

Speaking on the CIU Hair Care and Beauty Services Department, the Department Head Vali Gjinali said, “In the current conjuncture where the domain of service is on high demand, our principal aim is to prepare conscientious experts who will consolidate their theoretical knowledge of hair care and beauty services with practice, employ technological tools correctly and effectively, follow contemporary trends in fashion, undertake effective communication, take solid steps towards their goals, and who will contribute to their professional domain as well as to their country”.

Speaking on the event, students from the CIU Department of Hair Care and Beauty Services said “Through our performance during this event we were able to show that makeup is an art, and that it is about much more than sole beauty. Our department took part in many events and social responsibility projects, in addition to hosting some activities; yet, this event was a first for us and in Northern Cyprus; we will be happy to further support such events at every opportunity”.
