During the “Welcoming Night” taking place on 9 October 2015 within the framework of Eastern Mediterranean University’s 18th Orientation and Welcoming Days, EMU graduate Buray will take the stage.
Taking place under the main sponsorship of North Cyprus Young Turkcell, 18th Orientation and Welcoming Days will finish on 11 October 2015. As part of the 18th Orientation Days, a series of seminars and trips as well as an array of social and cultural activities easing the adaptation process of new students both to the university and the environment have been offered to incoming students. Within the framework of the program which has two parts as welcoming and residential, new students are being welcomed at Ercan Airport as well as Famagusta and Kyrenia ports and taken to their respective dormitories
On 9 October 2015, a “Welcoming Night” celebrating the arrival of newly registered students to the university will be taking place in the form of a cocktail at 8:00 p.m. with the participation of the administrative and academic units as well as student clubs. Taking place at EMU Atatürk Square, the Welcoming Night will also host faculties’, schools’ and student clubs’ promotional activities as well as various sports competitions, stage performances, concerts and recreational activities.
EMU Graduate Buray to Take the Stage
Popular singer and EMU graduate Buray will take the stage during EMU’s Welcoming Night. Following his graduation from EMU Arts and Sciences Faculty, Music Department in 2005, Buray Hoşsöz is climbing the steps of success in his music career. Born in Nicosia in 1984, Buray played the guitar in various concerts given by famous singers including Haluk Levent, Kuzey, Rober Hatemo, Soner Arıca, Hazal, Gökhan Tepe, Berksan and İzel. Having attracted the attention of music lovers with his wide and modern English repertoire, he also gave concerts as the singer of the group “Sensitive Vibrations” and as part of “Acoustic Ceremony” project. Buray also gave a concert in England at Royal Alexandra Palace. Following his graduation from EMU, Buray obtained a master’s degree on Music Production and Sound Engineering from University of Glamorgan.

Prepared with different themes every year, this year’s orientation concept is the minimalist icons representing the TRNC. The program is offering new students a series of seminars and trips as well as an array of social and cultural activities to ease their adaptation process both to the university and the environment. Within the framework of the program which has two parts as welcoming and hospitality, new students are welcomed at Ercan Airport as well as Famagusta and Kyrenia ports and taken to their dormitories.
Within the framework of the 18th Orientation Days, film screenings will be taking place at the open-air cinema set up in front of EMU-2 dormitory every night at 8:00 p.m. between 28 September and 11 October 2015. In this way, the newly arriving students will have the opportunity of meeting other new students in a social context. New students will also be offered various tours within the TRNC, including a Famagusta tour on 2 October 2015, Nicosia and Kyrenia tours on 3 October 2015, Karpaz tour on 4 October 2015 and EMU campus tour on 8 October 2015. Assistants will also be taking part in the said tours to answer students’ questions.
Seminars for New Students
18th EMU Orientation and Welcoming Days will also be offering seminars targeted towards new students and their families. On 2 October 2015, a seminar entitled “Life in North Cyprus” by the TRNC Police Department and on 8 October 2015, “Richness in a Multicultural Environment” by EMU Psychological Counseling, Guidance and Research Center will be held for new students.
As part of the Orientation Days, information desks have been set up for new students and their families at EMU-2 Dormitory, Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, Registrar’s Office and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School.

The program also provide services to newly arriving students under the title of "Student Welcoming and Placement Program" and "Orientation Days". During the Orientation Program, help desks which provide assistance to students regarding general and academic issues through free-of-charge information resources are set up at entry points into TRNC like Ercan Airport as well as various places on the campus.
"Orientation Days start one week before the commencement of classes. Along with the campus tour which aims to provide information on the administrative units, tours to Famagusta, Nicosia, Kyrenia and Karpaz are organised within the framework of the program. Additionally, informatory seminars supporting the new students' adaptation to the new environment are held during the Orientation Days. All new students and their families are invited to the Orientation Days which offer numerous social and cultural activities."

It's that time again when new students start coming to Eastern Mediterranean University [EMU] North Cyprus to pursue their studies. As usual, EMU Activities center and the International Office will be temporarily employing student assistants that will help in welcoming the new students, placing them in their respective dorms, getting them acquainted with the Island and for the 18th Orientation program for Fall semester 2015-2016.
In view of the above, applications are hereby welcomed from interested students that want to take part in the 18th Orientation program. Applicant must be a registered member of EMU, and also have a satisfactory cGPA in previous semester(s).

Eastern Mediterranean University Orientation Program which aims to introduce the campus and its facilities to new students and to help them adapt to their new social and physical environment before classes commence provide services to newly arriving students under the title of "Student Welcoming and Placement Program" and "Orientation Days". During the Orientation Program, help desks which provide assistance to students regarding general and academic issues through free-of-charge information resources are set up at Ercan Airport as well as various places on the campus.
The Student Welcoming and Placement Program during which the new students are picked up from Ercan Airport or Kyrenia/Famagusta Ports and taken to their designated dormitories in EMU is implemented for three weeks prior to the start of the classes. Students wishing to benefit from the "Welcoming Program" are expected to fill-in the "Pick up Request Form" which can be obtained from EMU's official website or EMU Promotion, Liaison and Registration Offices and submit it through one of the methods specified in the form at least 5 days prior to their arrival to the TRNC.
Orientation Days start one week before the commencement of classes. Along with the campus tour which aims to provide information on the administrative units, tours to Famagusta, Nicosia, Kyrenia and Karpaz are organised within the framework of the program. Additionally, informatory seminars supporting the new students' adaptation to the new environment are held during the Orientation Days.
