NEU organized a joint live course for Neurosurgeons from Turkey and TRNC


Within the scope in its 25th anniversary events, the Near East University in collaboration with Turkish Neurosurgical Society realized the meeting on Posterior Spinal Instrumentation Techniques at Oscar Resort Hotel in Kyrenia, TRNC.

According to the press statement issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations Office of NEU (Near East University Nicosia, Cyprus), the meeting on “Posterior spinal instrumentation techniques”, which was a joint venture with Turkish Neurosurgical Society, was hosted by the Department of Neurosurgery of NEU Faculty of Medicine.

In the press explanation, it was stated that the meeting, which took place at Oscar Resort Hotel via the organization of NEU Tourism Enterprises, lasted four days and provided platform for neurosurgeons from Turkey and TRNC to discuss the latest neurosurgical techniques used for spinal instrumentation, and as well as the basic methods and advanced techniques for spinal reconstructive surgery.

Prof. Dr. Kaptanoğlu: The meeting provided participants opportunity to observe advanced spinal implantation techniques and applications in live demonstration course…

Prof. Dr. Erkan Kaptanoğlu, the Head of NEU Department of Neurosurgery and the Vice President of Turkish Neurosurgical Society Spine and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Education and Training Group, stated that during the course basic information was given and various neurosurgical applications and implants were performed with high speed neurosurgical drill systems, and the latest spinal instrumentation techniques are demonstrated live on special models. “The most advanced spinal surgery techniques used in the treatment of waist and neck hernia and vertebral fractures were demonstrated on special models with live applications to the participants” said he.

Approximately 50 neurosurgeons participated in the lectures given by 12 professors…

Highlighting that the live course on posterior spinal instrumentation techniques was a first in TRNC, Prof. Dr. Kaptanoğlu noted that approximately fifty specialist neurosurgeons from Turkey and TRNC participated in the courses presented by 12 professors that specialized in the spine and spinal cord surgery. He also emphasized that they would continue to organize the Course with a specific theme at regular intervals every year.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Dalbayrak: A highly qualified course was realized…

Touching upon the significance of the course, Turkish Neurosurgical Society Spine and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Education and Training Group President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sedat Dalbayrak stated that they had realized a highly qualified course with the participation of neurosurgeons that are specialized in their fields, adding that the Near East University provided a very strong infrastructure and platform for the participants to present the latest neurosurgical techniques and as well as to perform a great number of live model applications. “Our lecturers and neurosurgeons lived the happiness of taking part in such an efficient and qualified course. We also had opportunity to live the unique beauty of North Cyprus through organized social activities. On behalf of our lecturers and trainees, and personally I would like to thank particularly to NEU and everyone contributed to organization of this course” said he.
