EMU PCGRC Marks the International Children’s Rights Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women
Eastern Mediterranean University Psychological Counseling, Guidance and Research Center (EMU PCGRC) organised various activities with the aim of highlighting the importance of 20 November International Children’s Day and 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Taking place with the collaborative effort of EMU – PCGRC and EMU Psychology Students Club, the activities started with the placement of posters containing the principles of children’s rights on trees within the university. On 21 November, to raise public attention to the problem of child brides, screening of the film “My Aunt Came” took place. Following the film screening, a panel discussion on the concept of child brides took place under the moderatorship of EMU – PCGRC chair Prof. Dr. Biran Mertan and psychiatrists working at EMU-PCGRC.
To mark 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, EMU Psychology Department students distributed leaflets and white ribbon badges at university’s main entrance. On the same day, screening of the film “Philomena” took place . Within the framework of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, EMU – PCGRC senior psychiatrist Haşim Haşimoğulları wrote a newspaper article to be published soon.
