EMU Community Involvement Center Introduces a project “We Also Exist in This City”
Eastern Mediterranean University Community Involvement Center organised an activity marking 3 December, International Day of Persons with Disabilities in collaboration with Famagusta Municipality.
Within the framework of activities aiming to raise public awareness regarding 3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a picture coloring activity for the students of İrfan Nadir Rehabilitation Center took place in front of Famagusta Development Academy on 2 December 2014.
A considerable number of notable names including EMU Community Involvement Center Chair and Public Relations and Advertising Department Vice Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, Community Involvement Center Executive Board member and Social Services Specialist Barış Başel, Famagusta Municipality staff member for Human Resources and Training Simge Okburan, İrfan Nadir Rehabilitation Center chair Havva Öztenay, Lions Association, Artist Ayça Akarcan, and her assistants Ayşe Hacımehmet, Nejla Egemen and Yağmur Karabiber took part in the activity which had the main theme of “We Also Exist in This City”.
Students of İrfan Nadir Rehabilitation Center stated their pleasure in taking part in the activity.
Stating Famagusta Municipality’s pleasure in providing a venue for the activity, Simge Okburan invited each and every member of the society to be sensitive and supportive towards the disabled.
Stating that the activity is quite a meaningful one in terms of making the public aware of the fact that individuals with special needs also share the same city with us, Barış Başel congratulated EMU for taking a serious step in catering for the needs of the disabled by introducing a barrier-free campus.
