Massive Work begins on Derinya border crossing point, Famagusta TRNC [VIDEO]

WORK HAS begun in preparation for the eventual opening the crossing point at Derinya, reports the Turkish Cypriot Press and Information Office.

The official responsible for 'domestic affairs' in northern Cyprus Teberrüken Uluçay visited Famagusta -Derinya border earlier this week.

He was pictured with local officials and maps of the area.

Mayor of the municipality told the Famagusta Gazette last week that the road leading to Famagusta was in very poor condition and needed extensive repairs, but added "We are ready to open it as soon as possible."

The opening of the crossing was agreed on May 28 after a meeting held between President Nicos Anastasiadis and TRNC President Mustafa Akinci, however a date for the opening has not been announced.
