Keith Kanombirira: North Cyprus in our eyes [OPINION]
The Island of Cyprus is divided into to two by a buffer zone which is maintained by the UN peace keepers. Each year students flock in large numbers from Africa, Gaza, Jordan, Iraq, Dubai for different reasons to seek greener pastures just to mention a few.
Turkish republic of Northern Cyprus is an ancient place that is inhibited with historical structures that are amazing and captivating to the eye .The Turkish people are friendly people, this cannot be over-emphasized.
Michael Nevera from Near East university says;
”I like the Turkish they help me a lot, they listen to me, even though they don’t understand what I will be saying but I use signs but at the end helps me”
There are a lot of universities which offer various programs, in one discipline or the other. One can definitely find what suites them and hey the fees are also affordable I must add.
Sightseeing the museums and other places of interest seem rather neglected plus old-fashioned (dusty raggy old).In Lefkosa a popular huge market called the Sunday market draws attention of a majority of students from Near East university, Cyprus International University, The array of produce offered is mind blowing whatever the season, and the freshest and most succulent vegetables are the ones produced here in the TRNC. Carrots, cauliflower and broccoli all grown local because of the rotation seen everyday. To mention the carrots are sweet, firm and crunchy, almost better eaten raw than cooked.
Tega joel Etetafia says;
“ I get to blend my Nigerian food with different mixtures that I get here and it makes the food interesting”
