1st EMU Genomics and Proteomics Research Meeting in Biological Sciences Department EMU


Eastern Mediterranean University Arts and Sciences Faculty, Biological Sciences Department hosted an important symposium entitled “1st EMU Genomics and Proteomics Research Meeting." The event which commenced at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall at 9:30 a.m. on 21 November 2014 hosted speakers from EMU, Oxford University and Ankara University as well as  various universities and institutions throughout the TRNC.

During her opening address, EMU Biological Sciences Department chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bahar Taneri Güder stated that the department organised the event to have a closer look at the latest developments in the fields of genomics and proteomics as well as to exchange information with different researchers in the aforesaid fields.

Following Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taneri, EMU Arts and Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Rza Bashirov provided detailed information about the department and expressed this pleasure in hosting such a beneficial event. On behalf of the university, EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen delivered an opening address and thanked all those who contributed to the event.

Following the opening addresses, Dr. Jale Yüzügülen delivered a presentation entitled “Characterisation of Proendothelin-1 Derived Peptides Identifies Endothelin-Like Domain Peptide as a Biomarker of Renal and Vascular Pathologies”.

Dr. Kamil Ergüler “Computational Modelling of Biological Systems. 

Following the presentations, a panel discussion entitled “Challenges and Rewards of a Science Career” took place under the moderatorship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taneri.
