Turkish Leader ATATÜRK commemorated at Cyprus International University

The ceremony held commenced with a wreath that was laid at the statue of Atatürk, followed by a silent salute. The Turkish national anthem was played where after the flags were flown at half-mast in his honour. The ceremony was attended by the Acting Rector Prof. Hikmet Seçim, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mete Boyacı, and the Secretary General Associate Prof. Ahmet Adalıer as well as faculty Deans, lecturers and a great number of students.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Prof. Dr. Metin Karadağ gave a speech during the ceremony.
“There’s no room for dogma in the Kemalist school of thought”
Prof. Metin Karadağ began his speech by expressing his joy at the turn out of people at the ceremony. Metin Karadağ spoke about about Kemalism stating, “Kemalism presents the parameters of many scientific disciplines. Only those countries that have succeeded in adopting the reforms can be called progressive countries, with the rest lagging behind as regressive countries. Kemalism puts forth rationalism and scientific thought. With the motto ‘The greatest guide in life is science’, there’s no room for dogma in the Kemalist school of thought.”
