Iranian Society Elections in Eastern Mediterranean University

Eastern Mediterranean University Iranian Students’ Society elections to determine the society’s president and the executive board members took place on 13 March 2015 with the participation of 361 voters. Following the vote count, Saeed Ebrahimijam became the president of the aforesaid society with 216 votes.

Compared to the elections in previous years, there has been a 50% increase in the number of students casting votes. The ambassador of Iran Dr. Reza Zabib and the supreme leader of Iran Hojatol İslam Abedi visited the university and had a chance to observe the election progress. During their stay in EMU, the aforesaid guests visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and Vice Rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca. Rector of EMU stressed the importance the university gives to the existing relationship between the university and Iran and stated his hope to establish further cooperations in the field of education. Congratulating Prof. Dr. Osam for their achievements, Abedi put forth that Iran hopes to strengthen bilateral ties between EMU and Iran.
