Students of Tourism and Hospitality Management School EMU Celebrated International Museum Week

A group of international students from Eastern Mediterranean University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management marked the International Museum Week by taking part in a civic involvement Project which took place under the coordinatorship of EMU Community Involvement Center Executive Board member Dr. Nazenin Ruso.

Taking place within the framework of the International Museum Week celebrated between 14 and 19 May, the event commenced with a ‘Flash Mob” activity involving regional dance shows of students from Azerbaijan, Cameroon, Nigeria, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Iran and finished with an international karaoke activity which took place in front of Department of Antiquities and Museums in Famagusta.

A flash mob is a social activity involving a group of strangers who organize themselves to gather together in a public place, behave in a predetermined manner for a predetermined amount of time before quickly dispersing. At the end of the event which attracted shop owners’, tourists and other onlookers’ attention, participating students shouted as “Happy Museum Week”.  When students were asked about the purpose of the organisation, they said that they wanted to raise public awareness on the International Museum Week.
