BRT NEWS: New mobile speed cameras to come to service in TRNC.


Police cars fitted with speed cameras will be able to detect speeding drivers while on the move as well as when parked.

New mobile speed cameras are to come into service as of the 1st of February 2016, the TRNC police department has announced.

According to a statement issued by the TRNC police department, speeding is the leading cause of traffic accidents in the country.

The statement said that a police vehicle fitted with the new mobile speed camera had completed tests and was ready to go into service.

The new speed cameras are capable of detecting and photographing speeding cars while on the move.

The police department said that it aimed to catch more speed offenders in a bid to lower traffic accidents due to speeding.
