REPORT: Speeding fines are not curbing road traffic accidents, TRAKAYAD alleges

According to head of TRAKAYAD [Traffic without Accidents Association] in TRNC,  The TRNC still has high road traffic accident statistics despite the fact that penalties from fixed speed cameras have raised 45,497,654.00 (Forty five million, Four hundred and Ninety seven thousand  and Six hundred and fifty four Turkish Liras) TL between 2006 and 2015.

“If the penalties collected from traffic speed detection cameras in the last 10 years were spent properly and in the right places, many lives would have been saved and many of those accidents would never have happen,” he said.
