NO VISA Policy: Ghana is about to make travel in Africa easier for All Africans
Ghana’s president, John Dramani Mahama, said the West African country will offer visas to citizens of African Union member states on arrival into the country from July.
What this means in effect is that you might wake up in Nigeria and decide you want to go to Ghana for weekend relaxation. All you need to do is get your flight and fly down or use any other means of transportation. You will get to Ghana with your passport, NO VISA and VISA will only be stamped as you're entering the country.
With the VISA stamped, you can stay for 30days before leaving and coming back again, if you so wish. If you stay more than 30days you will be breaking the law.
Ghana’s new visa policy is big news in Africa where, according to the African Development Bank, only 25% of the countries offer visas on arrival to nationals of other African nations. Put another way, it is easier for North Americans to travel within the continent than it is for Africans. Only the Seychelles is known to have an open access visa policy applicable to citizens of all AU member states. (Ghana currently offers visa free entry for citizens of 15 countries within the Economic Community of West African States.)
