Nicosia street lights to go LED


Turkish company Vestel have won a tender to change the existing street lighting in Nicosia over to LED.

The tender, organised by KIB-TEK was won by Vestel-Celiksan consortium who will replace 10,000 light bulbs in Nicosia’s street lamps in the first phase of the project.

Eventually, it is planned to replace bulbs in 55,000 street lights, saving 8.5 million TL and 19 million kWs per annum.

Turan Erdogan, President of the Executive Board of Directors for the Vestel Group said they aimed at saving 90% of lighting energy, island wide.
