Documentary on abandoned Nicosia Airport coming soon [Gundem Kibris]

The abandoned Nicosia International Airport has been made the subject of a documentary which will be aired on television in the near future.

The three part documentary, titled ‘The Divided Capital’s Ghost Airport’ is being shown on Kanal Sim.  An edited version will be shown on 7th April at Nicosia’s Ataturk Cultural Centre.

Nicosia International Airport was abandoned following Turkey’s peace keeping mission on the island in 1974.

The documentary will show photographs and footage of the airport and hear from eye witnesses, their personal experiences of those days. Included is the testimony of the last person to leave the airport it before it closed.
