TRNC: Today is the 11th anniversary of the United Nations 'Annan plan' for reunification…

The United Nations Secretary General at the time, Kofi Annan, had put forward a solution plan aptly named the Annan plan, which included all of Cyprus’ discussions from June 1968 when the inter-communal talks first began.

Tens of thousands of Turkish Cypriots flocked to the streets to support the Annan plan process and their efforts had ousted President Denktaș who was the leader then.

However, Greek Cypriot president Papadopoulos led an effective No campaign in south Cyprus which had led to the GC’s voting 75% No in the referendum and where TC’s voted 65% Yes.
