New heat wave creeps in Cyprus with an anticipated high of 41°C for inland areas.


Monday September 7th will be marked by significantly higher than average temperatures for the season with an anticipated high of 41°C for inland areas.

According to Weather Service officials, the usual average inland temperature for early September is 35°C. On Monday it will also be a 35°C on the west and north coasts and 33°C on the west and north ones. A cooler 31°C will be reached in the mountains.

Similar temperatures are expected to continue on Tuesday with a small drop to 38°C or 39/40°C inland on Wednesday while remaining at similar levels on Thursday and Friday. Georgiou said humidity levels were at average levels for the season but noted there was a chance of light dust in the air.

Cyprus experienced the first heat wave of this summer in July with temperatures up to 42°C
