KELLY ABANG: The Holiday Effect [OPINION]

When I was still a kid, my uncle Amos told me about a theory that says that "heaven will be boring" supposedly he thought for happiness to exist, sadness must. Growing up in a world where life didn't mean so much till it was the holidays, at least everyone thinks that they've got something important to pursue.

Then the holiday comes and everything once again is laid-back, focusing on things that actually means something, such as family, happiness and love. Then it got me thinking why do people have to wait for a certain period before they began to consider these things, as much. Then I realized it was the holiday effect.

Now, back to what my uncle once said, I may not have understood then but, it makes much sense to me now. In a world where we are coaxed with priorities that we consider right, and devote ourselves to. These priorities have become norms misplacing more important things that makes us human. Then the holidays are here to remind us of those things.

In as much as there is a world of people feeling the need to come together and share love, there is also another world of people who may not feel deserving of the need to celebrate, probably because they let this false judgement of happiness get to them.

The continuation coming soon...
