The 6th Annual International Football Tournament was held at CIU

The 6th annual astroturf football tournament, organized for students by the Cyprus International University Sports Coordination Unit, reached its climax last week.

Twelve teams composed of students from Nigeria, South Africa, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and other countries participated in the International Cup at the CIU Sports Complex Arena. Real Madrid FC were crowned champions of the tournament, defeating Turkey FC in the final match by a score of 5 – 2.

There were some very exciting moments during the final between Turkey FC and Real Madrid FC. Student supporters rooted and screamed in favour of their favourite teams, adding to the excitement of the match at the football Arena in CIU.

At the conclusion of the evening the CIU Secretary, General Associate Prof. Dr. Ahmet Adalıer, and the Coordinator for the CIU Rector’s Office, Associate Prof. Dr. Serkan Abbasoğlu, presented cups and medals to the teams that won the first, second and third place in the international cup tournament, Real Madrid FC, Turkey FC, and Free Stars respectively.

Aminu Muhammed Faggea (Real Madrid FC) and the goalkeeper Mustafa Arif Şavata (also Real Madrid FC) were presented prizes as the top scoring player and the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
