BRACE UP CYPRUS: End of Spring and Summer set to be Very Hot and Dry

EU weather officials are predicting dry weather for Cyprus spring ending and all through the summer with less rain and higher-than-normal temperatures.

Following a particularly dry winter with less rainfall levels than normal in Cyprus, the Serbian Meteorological Service that monitors the entire region has issued a forecast for the island where the first warnings of a drought are starting to appear.

Total rainfall for the months of March, April, and May is expected to be less than normal by 50% in the south and southeast of the island and up to 75% in other areas. Temperatures are not expected to veer off drastically from normal levels but they will show a slight increase, adding to the already hot characteristics of a summer drought.

Expected temperatures of up to 45'C will be observed during the highest peaks in Summer. Residents are advised to be cautious and wear protective clothing.
