METU UNI: Turkey's first and largest Technology-based Entrepreneurship Competition

Turkey's first and largest technology-based entrepreneurship competition, Yeni Fikirler Yeni İşler (New Ideas New Businesses) supports young entrepreneurs since 2005. Yeni Fikirler Yeni İşler renews itself every passing year, with providing investment supports for initiating processes of young entrepreneurs starting a business, growing and developing. Aiming orientation of young people toward technology based entrepreneurship, Yeni Fikirler Yeni İşler contributed to the establishment of 35 technology based startup companies. 

Yeni Fikirler Yeni İşler provides entrepreneurs to compete in five different categories namely; General, Defense Industry, Health, Energy, and Information Technologies and Telecommunication. Each project applied by the contestants is primarily evaluated as the General Category Project.

Each entrepreneur having success in each category during the period of competition, is awarded 100.000 TL sponsored by Elginkan Vakfı, Undersecretariat of Defense Industry and General Electric (each in 2 categories) and USA Camp worth of 25.000 TL sponsored by OSTİM Organized Industrial Region, TEB, Arçelik, Aselsan, General Electric, Teknopark Istanbul, Microsoft and YEDAŞ. Yeni Fikirler Yeni İşler allocates offices which are used cost free during 2 years to the winners of each category, as well as venture capital support reaching 2 million TL in total.

In its 10th year, by bringing entrepreneurs together in its new physical incubation center, and thereby having closer contact with them, Yeni Fikirler Yeni İşler will be providing more entrepreneurs.

Winners of the competition will be elected and announced in the Final which will be held on November 8, 2014, in Middle East Technical University, Cultural and Convention Centre. In this event, the entrepreneurs will present their business ideas for the first time and try to get support from the audience.

Competitors are given different prizes in each category as venture capital.
In the Final, you can take the opportunity to meet with investors, managers, academicians and entrepreneurs. Also, you can have a whale of a time with great music and cocktail, as well as watching the pitches of the most innovative projects.
